Supported Formats
Resizeify accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, and (on the HEIC converter page) HEIC/HEIF as input. You can export to JPG, PNG, or WebP regardless of the original format.
- JPG — smallest file size; ideal for photos, passport images, and any upload portal with a strict KB limit.
- PNG — lossless; best for screenshots, graphics with text, and images that need a transparent background.
- WebP — 25–35% smaller than JPG at the same visual quality; supported in all modern browsers.
Privacy Guarantee — Your Files Stay on Your Device
All resizing, compression, and format conversion runs entirely inside your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. No image data, document content, or metadata is ever uploaded to any server. This includes sensitive files like passport photos, signature images, ID documents, and application form attachments. When you close the tab, all temporary data is discarded. Read our Privacy Policy.
Frequently asked questions
- What is HEIC?
- HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhones running iOS 11 and later. It produces smaller files than JPG at the same quality, but is not universally supported by Windows, older Android devices, or web platforms.
- Why convert HEIC to JPG?
- JPG works everywhere — Windows Photo Viewer, Android, Google Photos, email clients, web browsers, and every image editor. Converting to JPG ensures your iPhone photos can be opened and shared on any device or platform.
- Is my iPhone photo uploaded to a server?
- No. This tool uses heic2any, a JavaScript library that runs entirely in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
- Why does conversion take a few seconds?
- HEIC decoding is computationally intensive. The heic2any library does the work in your browser's JavaScript engine rather than a dedicated decoder chip, so large files (12–48 MP) can take 2–5 seconds.
- What if my HEIC file fails to convert?
- A small subset of HEIC files use encoding variants not supported by heic2any. If conversion fails, try AirDropping the photo to a Mac and exporting as JPG from the Photos app, or use iOS Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible to shoot in JPG going forward.
- Is Resizeify safe to use for sensitive documents, passports, and signatures?
- Yes, 100%. Resizeify operates entirely client-side inside your web browser. Your photos and documents are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to external servers or stored anywhere.
